Being granted a scholarship by the Chamber of Commerce of Nuoro allowed Nivola to study at the Higher Institute for Artistic Industries ISIA in Monza, where he met his future wife, Ruth Guggenheim. He began his experience in advertising as the Art Director for Olivetti.
