The Mother Goddess is a symbol used frequently in the artistic production of Costantino Nivola to represent the idea of hospitality and protection.  She, like the ancient water source at the washhouse that welcomes visitors to the museum, takes us back in time to the sounds of running water and to the distant voice of a midwife delivering new life into the world.
