Thus far, few have noted the deep moral commitment abounding in Nivola’s artistic works.


Nivola’s personal story, forced as he was to migrate often, made him a citizen without a country, a stranger even at home—but in exchange, open to all of humanity and the world. The reduction of humanity to ‘one', with the archetypal figure of the Mother Goddess, requires a single race, the human race, and the eradication of geographic and ideological barriers, a universal brotherhood nourished by the collective unconscious and the inherited moral resources found in the Mediterranean tradition.
