| The Bed: Nest of Repose |
|
|
Nivola’s terracotta works originate from ancestral gestures: both the Beds and the Beaches. The bed as a nest of repose, as defense from the exhausting effort of back-breaking living in the countryside, and as the scene of the most intense human emotions: love, loneliness, dreams. The bed as a place of reflection and hope. In the Beds, therefore, the whole range of these feelings can be seen: from figures one can barely make out, engulfed by the sheets, to those who overflow in their exuberant presence, sitting, kneeling, thoughtful or intent to love each other in the triumph of the most natural sensuality.
